So what can you do with all this information you discover? Why, Pin-It of course! Spread the love to everyone you know. Make "pages" where you can group your pin ideas together, share your pins on other forms of Social Media such as Facebook, and ask others to join Pinterest so they can look at all of your pins too! And what will happen in return? Your friends will make their own Pinterest accounts and make pages that they will share. It's a never ending cycle of idea sharing, which means your Pinterest friends help get the word out about your and your business. Sharing products and ideas to many people at once… can you say the beginnings of internet marketing?
Anyone Can Use Pinterest to Market Their Business
Local and National Business are not ignoring Pinterest. Some jumped on that bandwagon immediately, knowing the undeniable ROI they would have. And it is not just businesses; anyone who has an online blog, especially with DIY information, are gaining from this phenomenon too. How? Well, it starts with that single pin. When somebody views a pin on Pinterest, they have the option to continue looking at other pins, or click on the pin, where it directly takes them to the website page the information was originally from.
Let's use some examples:
If a teenage girl posts do-it yourself pictures and videos of hairstyles, and one of her DIY's ended up on Pinterest, then somebody could find other things she has posted on other websites (YouTube, blogs). That somebody could share the pin, and now that teenage girl is driving traffic to her website pages, gaining a name (recognition) and successfully marketing her "business."
Take a big clothing brand like American Eagle Outfitters. They are already on every social media output you can imagine with a great marketing campaign to boot. What can they do on Pinterest to set them apart? In the past, they have held contests on Pinterest for people to create an "AEO pin board" of their perfect AEO wardrobe. The person with the most creative/inspirational board wins (gift cards!). Just like that, American Eagle used Pinterest to create another well, thought out internet marketing strategy.

Another 10% came from Pinterest searches. These numbers are a testament to Pinterest’s power as a kind of user-generated digital retail catalog that shoppers flip through for ideas.
Pinterest is here to stay. It's addicting, fun and a great way to market yourself and your business. Pinterest has certainly earned itself a seat at the “big boys” of social media marketing table.
