Client Spotlight: Nick’s Cigar World

Nick’s Cigar World is the largest privately owned premium cigar showroom in the Southeastern US. They are a staple in Myrtle Beach, SC, where you can browse their selection and relax in the attached lounge on your next beach vacation.

Nick’s Cigar World is a long-time client of WordwrightWeb. They came to us years ago because they were unhappy with their web development and digital marketing company.

Our talented web developers created a sleek, modern website for NCW as the old site was outdated and difficult to navigate. We also updated their domain to “.com” rather than “.net”. This is because “.com” is best for commercial use, which is the website’s intent. 

One of the biggest flaws with the old website had to do with its structure. Each cigar had separate pages for the individual and various bundles available (5-pack, 10-pack, or  25-pack). This was cause for concern from a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) perspective because those pages created duplicate content issues, as well as simply not being very user friendly. 

The new website is streamlined so on a given product page you can choose the quantity and add it to your cart without ever having to go to a new page. We also set up all the necessary redirects to ensure the site was healthy from a technical standpoint and to retain any SEO value from the old links. We installed and configured WooCommerce for its e-commerce, tracking, and analytic capabilities. Aside from the functionality aspect, the new website is fast, stylish, and makes purchasing cigars online a breeze. 

In addition to developing and hosting the website, Nick’s Cigar World signed up for our monthly maintenance program. This is a hosting addon that greatly enhances the security, stability, and longevity of WordPress websites. With this addon, we take a proactive deep dive into a website’s functionality, security, and overall health each and every month. We recommend this service to all of our WordPress clients. 

WordwrightWeb also recently started SEO for Nick’s Cigar World. As a cigar company, they fall under the “restricted industry” category in the eyes of Google and other search engines. Unfortunately, this means they are limited in their digital marketing capabilities. They cannot run ads on search engines or social media platforms. Therefore, SEO is really the only channel they can utilize to drive traffic to their website and generate sales.
